How do I use Media to run a library?

Media is designed to help you organize a home or classroom library, and also includes a basic lending feature called Friends that makes it easy to track lending to others.

  1. Select an item in your collection, either by finding it on the list or by scanning the barcode (which will automatically select it)
  2. Click the Friends button.
  3. Mark the item's status as Lent Out, then type the name of the friend or student who's borrowing the item. You can also track when you're expecting it back.
  4. Click OK, and that's it! From the main Media list, you can create or view a report of all items that are lent out, then mark them as Available again when they return.

Media is perfect for simple lending to friends or a small classroom of students, but isn't suitable for larger libraries – it's not designed to be a comprehensive lending management tool. For comprehensive media lending software with borrower/student lists, transactions, scan-to-borrow, overdue dates, reporting, condition tracking, and much more, check out our Daneizo Lending Management System.
